Week 10 - Readjusting

Monday, July 14, 2008

My day off. I'm not too sore today so perhaps the new inserts plus readjusting my weekend workout may be helping.

Tuesday, July 15 through Thursday, July 17, 2008

My 10-mile times are getting back to where they were a few weeks ago - 26:57, 26:39, and 27:30, respectively. I'm not feeling as sluggish as last week.

Another day off. The feet and ankles/calves feel better.

Saturday, July 19, 2008

While listening to Joni Mitchell's Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, I walked the first quarter mile and then ran a quarter mile. I repeated this for the second lap and finished in about 14 minutes. The bottom of my left foot is a tad tight but my ankle area tolerated this pretty well.

I did the same routine as yesterday, walking and then running in quarter mile installments while listening to ELO's Eldorado. I noticed a little tightness in my right calf but no pain. I finished again in about 14 minutes - this seems sooo slow but I keep reminding myself that I need to keep moving slowly...

Mental Skills Used for the Week: This is sounding like a broken record - Commitment, persistence, motivation, and dissociative thinking. Goal setting, associative thinking, and viewing the plan as a dynamic process, is critical. I feel that my body's still readjusting to becoming active (reluctantly at times) but I'm pretty happy with the progress.

Weight loss is at around 10 pounds (coincidentally, about 1 pound per week which is the recommended rate).

Until next week...
