Week 11 - Taking Things in Stride

Monday, July 21, 2008

A day off. I'm delighted that my ankles/heels/calves are not hurting.

Tuesday, July 22 - Thursday, July 24, 2008

10-mile Stationary bike times were 26:56, 27:03, & 27:36, respectively. I'm feeling pretty good.

Another day off. The legs feel pretty good.

Saturday, July 26, 2008

Like last weekend, I walked the first half of the lap and ran the second half. I repeated this for the second lap. I'm slowly getting stronger both leg-wise and endurance-wise. Listening to Camel on the iPod helped. I was conscious of talking myself out of running the entire second lap. I've got to remember to take things slow and steady. And thank you, Camel, for some nice music during the run.

I did the same walk/run routine today. Again, I'm really feeling like the work is starting to pay off. I think I could have gone farther but common sense won out. Camel again on the iPod.

Mental Skills Used for the Week: All the old favorites. Right now the most important are persistence, associative thinking, goal setting, and patience.

I also became aware of the use of self-talk during the runs. My legs are feeling pretty good but I don't want push things. So, I'm reining myself in for now.

Until next week...
