Week 21 - MUCH Better!

Monday, September 29, 2008

A rest day. I'm still feeling slight twinges of pain but these are ocurring less as time goes on.

Tuesday, September 30 through Thursday, October 2, 2008

Stationary 10-mile bike ride times dropped through the week, starting at 27:27 on Tuesday to 26: 29 and 26:37 on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Maybe it's from watching Star Trek: Voyager...?

Today's a day off. My knees and ankles feel pretty good and I'm going to return to running tomorrow.

I got a good morning's drag from the dog and then ran a mile in 9:17 which, I believe, is a personal best since resuming exercising. I felt great and, with the help of 10cc's How Dare You! on the iPod, I think the pacing was good. I'm not sure whether I'll run or bike tomorrow and most likely will decide tomorrow morning.

Given the problems I had had as recently as a week or so ago, I decided to ride the stationary bike this morning instead of pushing my luck. My time was under 27 minutes so I continue to push myself but not in a silly way. If I continue to feel good, I'll run both days next weekend.

Mental Skills Used for the Week: Persistence, some dissociative thinking, lots of associative thinking, goal setting and active adjusting, and commitment. It's been a good week and I have to continue to remind myself to be patient and exercise right.

Until next week...
